Smartphone Experts SafeGuard MetalSlider for Treo 755p, 750, 680 treocentral.com 08-17-2007

The SafeGuard MetalSlider case is a classy looking design comprising a mirror-like, polished metal back and a clear plastic front. You simply slide this foam-lined assembly over your Treo to keep it from harm. The case has cutouts for everything, so you won’t need to slide it off, though that’s also a cinch – say, if you need to change the battery.

The MetalSlider comes in models for Treo 680, 750, and 755p. My review unit fits my (crimson!) 680 perfectly. It slides on easily, fits snugly, and doesn’t appear to be too prone to fly back off accidentally, although it’s not all that difficult to remove it on purpose when necessary. The inside fo the metal half of the case has serrated grippers to hold the Treo against accidentally flying out. These work – or something does, anyway. For the 680, at least, I can report that the fit is near perfect.

Laser Projected Keyboard Gets the USB Treatment www.mobilemag.com 08-16-2007

I tell my friends that my T-Mobile MDA is just as powerful a desktop PC from about 10 years ago and they scoff at me and my mobile solitaire. Although the QWERTY keyboards on smartphones and Pocket PC devices have improved significantly in recent years, they're still quite small and typing on them just isn't the same as full-sized computer keyboard.

Seidio Rubberdized Treo Case Review www.palminfocenter.com 08-15-2007

After a disastrous start with the peeling paint of 2004's Zire 72, the soft-touch rubberized paint has slowly been growing more popular on various products released by Palm. From last year's Treo Hardcase (reviewed here), Treo 650 "Black Tie" special edition and GSM Treo 750 to this year's new CDMA Treo 755p, Palm has steadily been rolling out products incorporating this coating for a more secure, luxurious finish. Now Seidio, a popular manufacturer of peripherals for all types of handheld devices, has released a new Treo 700-series hard case that lets owners of non-rubberized Treos enjoy this remarkable finish.

After spending some time recently with a Sprint Treo 755p, I became determined to find a something similar for my 700p.

How to Pimp Out your Treo crunchgear.com 08-14-2007

If you’re a Treo user, read on. We’ll discuss add-on software and tweaks that will make your trusty handheld faster, easier to use, and far more productive.

We’ve discussed the pros and cons of the Palm OS before, so we’ll spare you that debate. What we’re here to do is pimp your Treo out, starting with the basics.

Introducing Vivee: Message Read Out While You Drive www.tmcnet.com 08-13-2007

Drivers are now being offered a way to read their mail while they drive without the need to halt their vehicle thanks to new messaging technology that reads out messages.

Because reading emails while driving can be dangerously distracting-- a recent survey by Nationwide Insurance found that 1 in 5 people text while driving.

For this reason, USTelematics (News - Alert) have introduced a new technology, Vivee - Voice Interactive Voice Enhanced Email that takes the role of an animated character to read out messages for drivers.

Seidio Multi-Function Battery Charger for Treo (All Models) treocentral.com 08-10-2007

How nice that someone finally “got it.” The inevitable clutter of cords might have done it, or maybe it was the hassle of juggling extra batteries – extended or not – into the Treo for the daily charging ritual. Whatever the impetus, Seidio has a neat answer to desktop clutter and Treo spare battery charging, all in one device.

The company’s Multi-Function Battery and Smartphone Charger for Treo 755p, 750, 700p, 700w|wx, 680, 650 makes it much easier to keep up with the power requirements of multiple Treos (I have five Treos, four of which are different models) plus a veritable gaggle of extra and extended (or not) batteries for them. You can even use a Treo while it’s hooked up to the charger and keep on charging a spare battery while you talk.

Resco Explorer Review mytreo.net 08-09-2007

When it comes to file management, all I can say is "wow." Resco has put together everything you can think of in one tight little package, and just like its Windows counterpart, Resco Explorer allows you total access to your files.

At first glance, Explorer is daunting. The learning curve is steep, and this really is not an app for novices. Unless you already really know what you're doing, or are both willing to learn and not afraid of incurring such a catastrophe that you'll have to perform a hard reset, I would stick to FileZ on your Palm os device.

With that in mind, I'd like to take a look at Resco Explorer, and just what it can do for you. It is also important to point out that Resco products are available for both the Palm and WM operating systems, so whichever flavor Treo you prefer, you can use Resco Explorer.

The Sun Also Charges www.dailycandy.com 08-08-2007

Hail? No. One bad case of driver’s seat thigh scorch and the sun secured its place as your elemental enemy of choice.

Don’t get burned; get Solio. The portable charger makes that big ball of helium and hydrogen work for you.

Spin out the compact, lightweight, futuristic-looking little buddy’s three fan blades and let the solar panels soak up the rays. Fully changed in four hours (and storable for up to one year), it’ll have about enough power to full-bar your mobile phone twice.

DataViz Releases Docs To Go 10.01 Update for Vista www.palminforcenter.com 08-03-2007

Palm OS users who run Windows Vista OS have had cause for celebration with last week's release of the beta version of Palm Desktop on Palm’s website. Now Dataviz, makers of the popular Documents To Go mobile device software suite, have released an updated version of the Palm OS version of their app with full Vista support just as they promised earlier this year.

Version 10.01 of Documents To Go, dated July 31st 2007, is fully compatible with the recently-released Palm Desktop 6.2 beta. Documents To Go 10.01 is available as a free download for 10.00 users. It can be installed via the Vista-compatible Install tool of the new Palm Desktop while the HotSync Manager 7.0 component of Palm Desktop 6.2 allows proper file synchronization between the Palm device and the host PC.

Missing Sync 4 out of Beta, Adds WM6 support www.wmexperts.com 08-02-2007

I think it's safe to say this: with The Missing Sync, Version 4, Windows Mobile has better Mac syncing than it does with either XP or Vista. ...There's a caveat with that, of course, in that the Missing Sync is forced to use Apple's horrendous Sync Services (so there's some weird bugs sometimes) and device support is sometimes a little tricky since Microsoft and their many manufactures don't exactly document all their custom changes. Mark/Space does a great job overcoming those hurdles, though, and I've been pretty happy with the Missing Sync overall.
